Well, this was too offensive to pass up. Now the Associated Press has decided that having a child creates instabilty in the workplace:

Love it. Now thousands of women all over the world are going to find their bosses, editors, CEOs, etc are little less sympathetic tomorrow when they ask for maternity leave. Hey, if the AP says it creates instability, then it must be true.

I was afraid to tell my employer that I was preggers with my first because I thought they would think I wasn't serious about the job. As if wanting a family and wanting to work simply couldn't happen.
I think that employers are getting better about realizing that people have families, and need a balance. But there is still that old stereotype out there that says you should pretend not to have a family if you want to get ahead. B.S.!
More of us should sue the bstards, that's what I say.
Hey Andie. I completely agree. I think that if I am working a 9 to fiver again, and end up going for baby due, I would handle things MUCH more differently: namely assuming things will go bad for me, and be very very protective of myself......
